History of kite: the origins
The beginnings of the history of the kite can be traced back
to a much earlier époque than other flying related apparatus
or machines, such as the air balloon from the 18th century. According
to many history of kite written references, towards the 2nd century
BC there already were some flying kites in China, and it's said
that a General would be able to fly a kite over the walls of an
enemy city.
History of kite: gaining popularity
Around the 6th century, the history of kite finds a new important
moment when kites were brought to Japan and gained much more popularity
than they had to that moment. Buddhist monks brought kites to
Japan and, after a while, people from different social positions
would fly them as a pastime.
History of kite: in Europe
According to the history of kite, it was not until the 12th or
1th centuries that kites became known in Europe. In this continent,
these objects were not seen with so much enthusiasm as in others
and didn't become so popular until some centuries later. Towards
the 18th century, kites started being used in Europe as tool for
measuring and research as well as a transportation method.

In its last 50 or 60 years, the history of kite has seen a great
amount of new events and interesting facts added to its list.
In these years, a wide variety of new uses have been found for
kites, including parachutes and many water sports. As it can be
seen, the history of kite is much more ancient than most of us
would usually tend to think, and has gone through many different
uses and events.
